Harmony Angel Cards
© 2002 Angela McGerr
Although this angel deck
is not my favorite among those that I own, it is a useful one, especially
if you are already familiar with some of the angels. Many new decks
by various authors, including well-known author Doreen Virtue, have put
out many new and modern angel decks since 2002 when the Harmony Angel
Cards by Angela McGerr was published. One usually expects to
find angel images on each card in an angel deck, but this one is different
from that norm. You'll find a variety of different images in this
deck. The art is not spectacular, but it serves the purpose of this
deck.
This particular angel
deck uses a system of four suits with 12 cards in each suit. The
suits of this deck are:
-
The Rainbow Suit
-- the first and primary suit, indicating the major angels influencing
your day-to-day situation.
-
The Star Fire Suit
-- the second suit which maps the strengths and weaknesses inherent in
every one of us
-
The Quintessence Suit
-- the realm of angels, also containing the universal life source that
nourishes both your physical (lower) and spiritual (higher) self.
-
The Sacred Flame Suit
-- symbolizes timelessness, like the Phoenix itself. What is learned
hee will, in due course, lead you back to the Rainbow suit to begin all
over again from a higher starting point.
The Harmony Angel cards
have a strong focus on healing, which leads to wholeness and harmony of
mind, body, and spirit. Many of the cards refer to chakra healing,
so although you do not have to be an expert in chakras, it is certainly
helpful to at least understand what they are.
Each of the four suits
have a different image on the back of the cards, according to suit.
So I initially found that to be a little bit confusing upon working with
these cards, but once you become more familiar with the cards, it will
not seem so different or confusing. The cards are small and easy
to handle, measuring approximately 2-3/4" x 3-3/4" -- and I will note that
the cards are a bit flimsy.
This is not a deck to
use to try to foretell future events. It is, however, a good choice
of cards if you are seeking to enrich your life path and find healing through
the angels. The accompanying book offers a one-page explanation for
each of the cards, along with a colored pictured of the card. I will
say that is helpful to have some knowledge of angels if you are using this
deck. The explanations in the book are good, but not as thorough
as I feel they could have been. I have read books that touch upon
things on a deeper level, the way I wish this book had done. So this
is certainly not the only deck in which you can find healing or life path
enrichment. Different things appeal to different people, however,
and some may find this deck to feel "right" to them, and in that case,
one should certainly listen to those instincts to connect with a good deck
for them to use or to have a reading with.
One thing I don't like
about the packaging is that the book and cards are contained in a book
casing. Inside this casing is a well to put the cards (which are
also in a flimsy cardboard box), and the 128-page book is literally glued
to the casing. So you have to pick up the entire outer casing to
look at the book. It will not slide out, as it's literally glued
on and would likely tear up the back cover of the guidebook if you took
it off.
There are other angel
decks that I could recommend more than this one, but again, this one was
published in 2002, so it is a bit older than some of the more modern styles
and packaging that we see on the market today. But overall, I think
the concepts of this deck are very good, and if an updated version were
ever to be done, I think it would have a lot of potential because of the
ideas behind this deck which can indeed promote healing and harmony in
one's life.
There is also a large-sized
hardback book that can be used with this set of cards, entitled "A Harmony
of Angels." The book does not cover all the angels cards, but provides
information, affirmations, and loving rituals that can be worked with for
the major angels in the card set.
