Angelic Messenger Cards:  Divine Guidance for Personal Healing & Spiritual Discovery

Improve your communication with the angels
and connect with the Divine.

This angel deck is different from many others in that you will not find cherubs or winged angels gracing these cards.  Instead you will find a gorgeous and colorful array of flowers.  The author of this card set, Meredith Young-Sowers, explains that one of the most powerful, simple, and exquisite forms of conveying divine guidance to human is through flowers.  Thus if you enjoy working with angels decks and you also have a love for the beauty and essence of flowers, this deck and book set may hold a special appeal for you.

A one-word message is portrayed on each of the cards, but the author does not include the name of the flowers for the cards, because she feels that it's not the name of the flower that is most important, but it's the significance we attach to the symbolic interpretation that is of importance.  When we consider the realm of angels, the concept is the same because it does not truly matter what name we attach or assign to the angels we feel an affinity to . . . but it's the beauty of that connection we have with them that is most important.  It comes through their guidance, comfort, and insights that they offer, including the symbolic signs they bring to our awareness as they guide us.  As the author explains, symbology is the language of the Universe which helps us to better understand what the invisible world of spirit is saying to us.

This card set includes 48 cards with floral photographs.  The cards have a matte finish and are rather thin.  I have noticed on my set that you can see the little paper bobs on the sides of the cards where these were taken apart after the printing process.  So they are not constructed from a sturdy cardstock, but with care and gentleness in the handling of these cards, they really should bring you much enjoyment.  It seems that the quality that was sacrificed in the cards was put into the nice 226-page accompanying guidebook (in color) and boxed case for the cards.  The book's pages are of a bright white quality -- and not flimsy in the way that the cards themselves are.

Each card includes four insightful sections in the book as follows:

• Present Challenge - Helps you identify your undercurrent of feelings that has caused you to draw this card
• Angelic Message - Focuses on raising one's spiritual energy on earth at this time
• Spiritual Opportunity - Interprets the flower images on the card you have drawn
• Application - Offers specific ways to further integrate and understand the message of the card, including exercises and practical things that you can do, think about, and work on in order to better take in the teaching of the angels on this subject.

This 2007 edition is actually the 2nd version of this card set.  The original set featured larger glossy-coated cards and a hardback guidebook versus the paperback that is included in this newer edition.  I thought the original cards were very attractively done, but they certainly presented a challenge because the cards were so long that shuffling was difficult.  The new 2007 version is not presented in quite the fancy way as the original cards were done with borders around the long cards, but they are of a smaller size (3-1/2" by 5") which makes shuffling easier.  The older version's guidebook was printed in black and white, whereas the new version's book is printed in color.  Either way, I like this set of cards even if the newer version seems to have been a bit shortchanged of quality to make the book nicer.

The 48 cards of the Angelic Messenger set are comprised of 42 cards plus six wild cards (four wild cards of Divine Guidance and two wild cards of Abundance).

The 42 non-wild cards relate to each of the following six aspects of spiritual energy that represent the basis of this card oracle:

1.  Reflection (Cards numbered 1 - 7):  Becoming aware of your divine self

2. Partnership (Cards numbered 8 - 14) - Growing spiritually in relationships

3. Integration (Cards numbered 15 - 21) - Establishing an inner harmony among the body, mind, and spirit

4. Alignment (Cards numbered 22 - 28) - Performing meaningful work that grows from your divinely inspired life purpose

5. Rejuvenation - Participating with nature in the cycles of life for your personal renewal

6. Nourishment - Choosing thoughts, foods, and emotional responses that give you spiritual fulfillment

The Wild Cards of Divine Guidance appear four times in the deck.  This card's message represents a direct response to your prayers or meditations in which you have been seeking to know God more directly, to find or hear your teachers more clearly, or to interact with the nonphysical world of angels in a more direct way.  These wild cards can appear to alert you to a situation, event, or a breakthrough opportunity that you might have otherwise missed.  This is considered a card of miracles and awakening, of hope and joy, manifested in response to your prayers.

The Wild Cards of Abundance appear twice in the deck, offering you a different view of abundant living by alerting you to impending opportunities for abundance.  It provides a means to evaluate your decisions according to spiritually-centered criteria rather than ego-based concerns.

The cards are numbered so that you can easily locate their spiritual teachings in the guidebook.  An image of that card is included so that you can ensure you have the correct page to correspond with the card you are working with.  The Angelic Messenger Cards can be used in spreads or to draw a daily card or one card for guidance.

The guidebook presents three specific card layouts that can be used with the Angelic Messenger Cards, but you could use or design other layouts according to your needs and preference:

• The Opening to the Energy of Love Spread

Helps you identify the most significant major energy or concern in your life at this time in each of the six aspects of spiritual energy (as noted above in this review).  You will be able to consider these spiritual challenges as significant opportunities or important doorways for your quest toward greater spiritual awareness and understanding.
 
• The Body-Mind-Spirit Spread

A useful spread when you have a specific question or issue dealing with your physical health and emotional well-being that you'd like guidance on.  Can be used when you are seeking to heal your physical body or overcome a serious loss that hinders your inner movement.  Please note that no reading should ever replace the advice of a qualified medical practitioner when you have physical health ailments!
 
• The Daily Guidance Spread

Can be used to gain insights into a specific question or concern.  You could draw a single card, a pair of cards, or a trio of cards for this guidance.
